Description: Here in Minnesota, we got a bit short changed on fall colors in 2020 owing to an early snow storm, so I took an opportunity to capture the season we almost had. This is a painting of my neighbor’s brilliant Sugar Maple. At a time when the pandemic, social divisiveness and unrest have dominated much of my headspace, I wanted to turn my attention to the beauty of trees, which always ground me, recalibrating my perspective. I thought it would be fun to recreate what it might be like to be a bird sitting on the branch of this magnificent tree, looking up through the canopy.
