Description: The title of this painting is ‘Be Still’ because it was created over four months of a spiritual journey into self. I’ve recently taken proactive steps to simplify life, to lean into silence, and to listen keenly to what it has to tell me. This process has brought on intense feelings of discomfort but it has also allowed me to better understand the origins of these emotions and develop some healing clarity. I’ve come to understand that I often bury my soul under blankets of responsibility and ego-centric neediness, leaving me a stranger to my true, inner self. I’m working to eliminate dualistic thinking and accept things as they are without attaching the labels of good or bad to each moment. I’m trying to recognize daily blessings and that everything I have ever wanted is right here at my fingertips. I have a lot of work to do and a long way to go on this journey, but I am now catching glimpses of contentment and inner peace. I hope this painting provides a contemplative opportunity for you as you navigate your way.
