Description: While other life is still slumbering after a long winter, Pasque Flower (Anemone patens) is the first to spring forth from the soil, dotting hilltops and ridges of dried grass in a showy display of lavender/magenta petals framing lemon yellow anthers. The plant gets its name from the coincidence of its blooming period with the Easter holiday; celebrating the pascal mystery of living, dying, and rising again, which is a fundamental element of the human experience and of our spiritual growth. I call this piece 'Metanoia' (Ancient Greek: 'Change your mind') to honor the symbolism of seasonal change as a call to journey inward towards our true selves.
