Description: I painted this piece in the late winter of 2019 as I was anxiously awaiting the arrival of our spring and our ephemeral plant friends; all of which were tucked into a cozy soil blanket for the long winter rest. As the days were beginning to grow longer and the temperatures warmer, I imagined the leaves and flowers bursting out of the soil in a desperate attempt to grasp light after an extended period of darkness. We all go through dark phases of life and how wonderful it feels when we finally spring forth and bask in the glow of a brighter day.
