Description: With the rapid, global spread of Covid-19 in the spring of 2020 and the associated isolation, discomfort, and loneliness it brought us all, I found myself really struggling to find the energy and motivation to paint. The loss of human connection and change in daily pace forced me to begin thinking about things in a different way. It challenged my perceptions, recalibrated my priorities, and illuminated my needs. I started slowly picking away at this piece back on April 30, 2020 and it ultimately took until July 23rd to complete. There is something about this piece that is hauntingly beautiful to me and I think it's because I feel that the mood of my experiences over those many months came out in the composition. Despite the fact that the trees are dropping their leaves with the arrival of frigid temperatures and shorter days, they remain interlaced - connected by proximity, inseparable, bound by common experience. Isn't this us right now?
